Primary Source is partnering with the Pearson Foundation and We Give Books for an online global read of "Girl in Translation," by Jean Kwok. Girl in Translation is the story of a young girl and her mother who emigrate from Hong Kong to live in Brooklyn in the 1980s. This book explores themes of identity, race, family, adolescence, and resilience. It won a 2011 Alex Award as one of the 10 best adult books that appeal to teen audiences.
To participate in the online Global Read, read "Girl in Translation" this fall and then join readers around the world for a live virtual discussion with Primary Source. As an added bonus, for every book read, "We Give Books" will donate a matching book to a school in need. Check out the title from the SHS library!
